Older versions of Kindle: After clicking on settings icon and so click the 'Globe' icon. From the next screen click the get-go item in the list. From in that location you will be taken to the language page. Click the dropdown pointer and choose English language…third from the top.

On newer versions of Kindle without categorized menu: Click on settings icon then scroll to the lesser. Click the icon 3rd from the bottom. This icon resembles 3 sliding bars. On the adjacent screen click the outset item in the list. On the following screen click the dropdown arrow and cull English…quaternary one from the tiptop.

I posted this is a comment on someone else'southward post, but in case anyone else is trying to find out how to practice this and doesn't read each post… hither it is as a main post.

Once you get to settings and language, yous all the same haven't finished going through the maze— every additional option is AGAIN written only in Chinese! You have to option the correct one earlier y'all can set up the language. This tin be washed simply by guessing and trial and error. I don't know who Amazon thinks has the time for this. Information technology could be solved by not making it so easy to accidentally fix the wrong linguistic communication in the first identify. It shouldn't be possible to practice information technology by accidentally swiping ane thing (or however it even happened) when you first have the Kindle out of the box. Especially, the user should demand to get through multiple menus and multiple buttons before you can set the language to one with a completely unlike alphabet. It shouldn't be so hard to avoid initially doing this by accident. Thirty seconds extra of thinking about usability on the engineers' office would have kept this trouble from ever coming up. So why didn't they… why am I even request why Amazon would have spent 30 seconds thinking nearly the user'south experience!!

Hi,

I only had this happen to me. I bought a refurbished kindle paperwhite from Woot and when I started it upwards, it was in Chinese. I found a unproblematic solution (if you have an iphone), apply the google translate app, in camera mode, and point information technology at the screen. I could navigate through the settings to switch the language.

could you delight let me know how to change it back to English it would aid me if y'all could show a video / picture of the monitor and what buttons to press to reach success.
